Arlen Sphincter turns his cheek
Away from the Far Right,
Just because he sits with Dems,
Will he see the light?
He’s been inside the Senate room
Sitting for many years,
Did he pass a moral test
With constipation tears?
He can’t seem to get off the pot
And now he’s singing blue,
Will he sing like Baucus and Burr,
Both Nelsons and Landrieu?
Will Conserva-turd Dems and Sphincter
Sit together on Repub-Low-Cans?
The Dems may get to sixty votes,
But corporations are in command.

What happened to the change we sought
With the election of ‘08?
How can we ever look forward
When criminals have mandates?
Our president set a precedent
Just like Bill Clinton of the past,
When crimes were clear of Bush the first,
Bill moved on pretty fast.
No investigation of the crimes
Of these past policy makers.
No justice for those who died;
Only visits from the undertaker.
The CIA got a presidential pass
Of any crimes they committed,
We’re glad Obama released the memos,
But justice has been omitted.
Mr. President where is the change
That was on your campaign docket?
Why do I feel that much of this change
Is just jangling your pocket.

An army of dicks
Are taking their licks,
And holding teabags in hand.
They’re out to say
The rich shouldn’t pay
More in Obama’s plan.
Teabaggers stand poised
Making more noise
Over different bodies of water,
Ready to pitch
Teabags for the rich
So FOX NOISE will make it hotter.
But something’s wrong
When history’s song
Is sung in revisionist tunes.
Right-wing clowns
Protest in towns
As the faux-test like Limbaugh balloons.
The super rich
Continue to switch
Their money to off-shore accounts,
And their faux minions
With teabag opinions
Get refunds while deficit’s mount.
So the army of dicks
Get astroturf licks
And turn history upon its head,
And the faux outrage
Continues to wage
For the rich, but that’s left unsaid.

History has left the ghosts
Of those empires of the past,
From Genghis Khan to Gorbachev,
Their kingdoms didn’t last.
Occupiers expand and brood
Over many different soils,
“We must defeat the terrorists
Where rebels still uncoil.”
Memories are buried deep
And hardly ever unearthed,
But as the occupier stays,
Rebels are giving birth.
There is no room in Afghanistan
Except one track that’s not plundered.
This is the empire’s final stand,
But in a grave six feet under.

Stephen Harper, right-wing nut
Has outlawed freedom of speech,
He’s preventing George Galloway
Into Canada where George can teach.
George would lecture on Gaza
And resisting war in Kandahar,
But teaching peace is a terrorist threat,
And for that Galloway is barred.
This British member of Parliament
Elected five times in the UK,
Cannot step on American soil;
Jewish fascists have their say.
You can be a war resister
And Canada may let you stay,
But if you talk about Israeli crimes,
You’re the terrorist Galloway.

If Socrates had been a hedge fund leader
And bet wildly on money games,
He’d be relieved to know today
That Hemlock has another name.
“Toxic asset” is too negative
And it looks bad on balance sheets,
The Federal Accounting Standards Board
Said, “You can now be more discreet.”
The mark to market rules have changed
Since accuracy was getting pretty old,
The toxic asset name should change
To something as good as gold.
“Gold” sounds better for a rally
And we can set all future prices,
It’s like Enron for investment banks
Making money and avoiding a crisis.
It’s time to re-inflate the bubble
And drink another round of champagne;
Because toxic assets will always be
Hemlock by another name.

A fulcrum of the present
Balances two different pasts;
The future teeters in a misty fog;
A president has to think fast.
The G-Twenty meets this week
Amidst protests in the street;
Twenty sit on the fulcrum’s middle,
Will lean to the future it meets.
Obama’s confronted by two weights
From America’s past;
Massive reforms like FDR,
Or LBJ’s warrior track.
FDR saw capital’s cannibal
Diminish democracy’s turn.
FDR brought major reforms
Making the royalists learn.
LBJ’s Great Society
Cut poverty in half.
But Vietnam brought him down
And Nixon filled the draft.
The Doha Round* requires more
Financial deregulation.
The WTO and the IMF
Smile in arrogation.
Global predators perch on the see-saw
Applying their rapturous weight.
This is their malignant cyst-em at work.
This is capitalism’s fate.
And Obama stands on the see-saw,
But does he see what FDR saw?
Inheriting wars and financial collapse;
Will enable the cystem’s flaws.
The Doha Development Round is the current trade-negotiation round of the World Trade Organization (WTO) which commenced in November 2001. Its objective is to lower trade barriers around the world, which allows countries to increase trade globally. As of 2008, talks have stalled over a divide on major issues, such as agriculture, industrial tariffs and non-tariff barriers, services, and trade remedies.[1] The most significant differences are between developed nations led by the European Union (EU), the United States (USA) and Japan and the major developing countries led and represented mainly by India, Brazil, China and South Africa. There is also considerable contention against and between the EU and the U.S. over their maintenance of agricultural subsidies—seen to operate effectively as trade barriers.
